Haven’t done a doll update in quite a while, so here’s what’s up:

Daiyu (FairyLand Feeple65 Siean) is wearing the “Respected Mentor Maid” outfit from the October 2011 Volks collection. The shoes are from Leekeworld and are sized for DDs.

Beato is also wearing Volks, in this case the “Missionary School High School Girl” set from the Dolpa 26 Collection, and the shoes are from another Volks collection. I really need to put some socks or stockings on this outfit and just haven’t gotten around to it.

Lynn (E-An) was wearing her default outfit, as shown at the top of this post, but I discovered in the process of taking pictures that it had stained her, as had the wig, so after 20 minutes of magic eraser scrubbing she’s in a different (white) ouftit and I didn’t manage to get any pictures of it before putting her up.

I got this doll a while ago, actually, but forgot to post here until now.

She’s a Feeple65 Siean from Doll Shop FairyLand. I got the “Empress of Sword” full-set with the outfit and wig, which turns out to have possibly not been the greatest decision, as both stained her a bit. Good thing it’s way easier to deal with staining on resin dolls than on DD! It’s a really nice-looking outfit, though.

I named her Daiyu, after the character from the famous Chinese historical novel “Dream of the Red Chamber”. Turns out she doesn’t look as Chinese in person as in the pics, and maybe her demeanor isn’t totally perfect for the character, but I’d decided on the name so that’s what she’s stuck with, haha.

That’s all for now. She’s wearing a different outfit at the moment, a maid outfit from Volks, so I need to take some new pics.

Here’s some more E-An pictures. She’s wearing an outfit from Angell Studio, a wig from Supia (came with Maridah’s Haeun), and boots from Dollfie Dream Neris. Processing was done with Nik Color Efex Pro 4 – I just got it for Christmas and I”m still learning it, so apologies if they seem overdone or anything.

Just a quick update here – I was feeling really weird about having my doll and figure stuff in the same photostream as my normal photography, so I deleted it all and made a new account for it. Just like this site, the username is “Otakushots”.

I’ve been using Flickr a lot more lately, since I’ve discovered how easy it is to upload through Lightroom 3. I’ll have things there first, and much more content than on this site, so go ahead and add me there!

Beato had been wearing the same outfit since just after Anime Expo, so I finally decided to put some new clothes on her. After the staining fiasco with this outfit’s jacket, I hadn’t even wanted to think about it, but now that she’s got a bodystocking to protect her legs from the stockings and skirt, and as long as I avoided using the jacket, I figured this outfit would work. So here she is, finally wearing the clothes I bought her with. I didn’t realize how obscenely short the skirt was until it put it on, though, that’s why you’re not seeing any photos from behind! She’s also wearing a Crobidoll wig.

By the way, I’m loving the ability of the D3s to simply melt away backgrounds, which means I don’t have to set anything up to take photos in our apartment! The clean ISO 3200 helps, too.

I’ve been neglecting this site pretty badly lately! Just been busy with other stuff.

Since my last post, I’ve done a variety of things. One of them was something I would’ve sworn I’d never do a year ago; I bought a real resin BJD! She’s an E-An, by Dream of Doll in Korea. I was against resin dolls until I saw a picture of somebody else’s E-An one day, and went “oh crap, I’m going to buy this!” I’ve had her for around a month and still haven’t come up with a name I really like, so for now she’s got the default one. She’s really fun to shoot with and pose, as she’s more flexible and can stand much more easily than a DD.

So this isn’t really news, but Volks is releasing a new version of Saber Alter (AKA Dark Saber), with the original face but new outfits, and Saber Extra (AKA Nero Saber and Red Saber), who also has the original face sculpt, but a new faceup and a totally new outfit. You can order them now from Volks USA in North America and Volks International anywhere else.

I’m getting Extra, and my GF will be getting Alter. I can’t wait!

I think when they come out, we might go pick them up on release day from Volks USA in Los Angeles. I’m hoping it’s like a mini-con there.
